Each year, from June until September, up to 100
Southern Right Whales gather at the Head of Bight to calve and
to
breed. Travellers can watch from platforms built along the cliffs
at Head of Bight as the whales slap tails or leap out of the water.
The Head of Bight is located approximately 1000 kilometres West
of Adelaide. Departs each week-day. In a one-day tour, depart
Adelaide
with Regional Express for Ceduna. In Ceduna, transfer to a Chinta
Air aircraft to fly West to the Head of Bight.
Scenery will include >
• Wheat and sheep farms
• Salt ponds and gypsum mine at Kevin
• Penong township
• Coastal scenery, including Fowlers Bay
• Illcumba Dunes.
Fly over the Southern Right whales, and land at
the Nullarbor Hotel/Motel. Travel by vehicle down to the whale-watching
platforms to get a closer look at the Whales and the Bunda Cliffs.
Return via the Nullarbor Hotel/Motel to Ceduna,
then onto Adelaide.
