Tour Description: The Gawler Ranges are located approximately 200 kilometres East of Ceduna. Board a light aircraft, and join Amity Aviation for the opportunity to view the Gawler Ranges from the air. Highlights include views of: Wirrulla township - known as The Town with A Secret, Wirrulla is a typical West Coast town which services the surrounding sheep and wheat farms. Paney Hill is the highest hill in the Gawler Ranges. Lake Gairdner is believed to be the lowest point in Australia. It is a salt lake, some 140 kms long and approximately 55 kms wide, with salt content so high that the water is not fit for humans to drink. It's well known as the place where Sir Donald Campbell attempted to break the world's land speed record. Lake Everard is also a salt lake, approximately 45 kms wide (East-West) and 20 kms North-South. Lake Everard lies on the sheep station known as Lake Everard Station. Ceduna is the largest town on the West Coast of South Australia, and provides services for the nearby wheat/cereal growing farms, and aquaculture industry. The name Ceduna is believed to have been derived from an Aboriginal word, Chedoona (resting place).
